The mountains have shaken off their winter blanket. As of mid-May 2026, Spiti Valley and Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake) are fully open and welcoming travellers. Kunzum Pass has been cleared by the BRO, the campsites near Chandratal are operational, and both the Manali and Shimla routes into Spiti are accessible.
Samsara Camps at Batal is open and ready. We are at Batal, 14 km from Chandratal Lake, on the Manali–Kaza Road, Lahaul & Spiti — your ideal base for the Moon Lake.

Why Stop at Batal (Samsara Camps) Before Chandratal?
Batal is at 3,900 m. Chandratal is at 4,270 m. That 370 m difference is the difference between a refreshing night's sleep and a sleepless, headache-filled one. By spending a night at Samsara Camps first, your body acclimatises at the lower altitude — you reach Chandratal the next day feeling strong, not sick.
• Batal → Chandratal: 14 km, ~30–45 mins drive
• We arrange guided day tours to the Moon Lake for all guests
• Hot meals, Swiss tents, bonfire — all included
