Chandratal Lake — the 'Moon Lake' — is one of India's most beautiful high-altitude destinations. At ~4,270 m in Lahaul & Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, it draws trekkers, motorcyclists, photographers, and adventure travellers every summer. Here's exactly how to plan your stay.

Distances to Chandratal Lake

From Manali: ~125 km via Atal Tunnel and Gramphu

From Kaza: ~80 km via NH-505 and Losar

From Kunzum Pass: ~21 km

Why Batal is the Best Base for Chandratal

Batal sits on the Manali–Kaza Road right at the base of Kunzum Pass — the road junction from which the Chandratal spur begins. It's the nearest point with proper accommodation to the lake.
